We love the opportunity to refresh our Stamford and New Canaan showrooms with what is currently trending in the luxury home design market. We strategically design our displays to highlight distinctive cabinetry design at its best. We feel that our showrooms are one of the things that set us apart – the best way to create your next kitchen, bar, bathroom, butler’s pantry is to physically be able to see and touch it.
Buffy Goodwin was enlisted to design the new bar displays in the Stamford showroom. Her goal was to create a functional yet beautiful space as it would be used several times a week by Culinary Works for after-hours cooking events. She designed one display with two towers with chevron doors to bookend a flush inset television and fireplace. The doors have touch latches so they disappear as panels, creating a seamless effect. The second area features countertops and a full-height, solid slab backsplash in Cristallo Quartzite, showcasing floating rift oak shelves with recessed LED channel lighting. It is flanked on one side by a 30” SubZero wine cooler with fridge freezer drawers and a tall, glass wall cabinet with flush inset LED lighting on the other side with additional fridge/freezer drawers underneath. The tequila bar was a fun addition and has a backlit, etched glass panel with floating glass shelves to evoke a true bar experience. The countertop is a durable Cristallo Quartzite mitered to a 2” thick edge for a substantial presence. Finally, the island also features the 2” thick Cristallo Quartzite countertop and panels with touch latch for hidden storage underneath that doesn’t feel cluttered.
Buffy selected satin brass fixtures and hardware to highlight a current trend in the luxury home design industry, along with a warm white palette as a departure from the stark white palette that has reigned for the last few years. The lighting is Kelly Wearstler for Circa – who was recently named one of the top 5 interior designers in the world. Her Strada flushmount starburst fixture is featured above the Cristalla backsplash along with the Melange sconces that flank the island mirror – both are definite show stoppers that make the entire space sparkle.

“The Design Process is never the same in any given project; my philosophy to design is creating beauty and balance, interest and mystery in every space I tackle. I love having something of historical reference in each project; that may be a piece, a technique, treatment or material that gives each space its own personality and uniqueness. Finally, I listen to the client and respect their needs and wishes before I begin the process, using that as a springboard into the project.”
