This client lives in a shingle-style home with traditional interior millwork and heavy, layered moldings throughout. She was adamant that her new kitchen should be vibrantly modern, creating an eclectic vibe. The team demolished the painted, white scullery-style kitchen and jack-hammered the bluestone floor to start designing from a blank canvas. The space was transformed into a two-toned kitchen with, white upper cabinets, and contrasting base cabinetry in a wood grain textured laminate. A custom, stainless-steel hood frames the induction cooktop for elegant meal preparation. The c-channel ‘hardwareless’ cabinetry, a favorite feature of this kitchen, creates clean, continuous horizontal lines complimented with paneled appliances. A waterfall-edge Calacatta Vagli Marble island serves as the focal point in the room, with storage and a hidden microwave on the working side of the island, and seating for four on the other. The same Calacatta Vagli marble was also chosen for the countertops for a seamless effect as well as the book-matched backsplash for the open shelving with integrated LED lighting as a show-stopping design element.
