This newly renovated kitchen embodies modern sophistication with its warm, creamy painted neoclassical cabinetry, deep pewter smoke-stained red oak island, and matching custom wood-sloped hood. The deep, rich wood tones create a striking contrast against the bright white marble countertops and single-slab backsplash, giving the space a refined yet approachable elegance. Warmth is introduced through natural wood accents – seen in the island base and woven barstools – while polished brass hardware and plumbing fixtures add a touch of understated luxury. Large windows flood the room with light, balancing the darker finishes and creating an inviting, airy atmosphere.
A collaboration between the DEANE designer, the interior designer, and the homeowner, the layout prioritizes seamless flow and everyday ease. The color-blocked juxtaposition of light and dark, not commonly seen in kitchens, was a favorite style choice. Inspired by a visit to the DEANE showroom, the homeowner visualized a hutch featuring the dark wood that felt like a high-end retail merchandise display. The addition of a soffit overhead and modest proportions kept the design and functionality in balance.
The expansive island provides generous prep space and casual seating, while layered textures add depth and dimension, creating a kitchen that feels as stylish as it is practical. The result is a space that’s equal parts statement-making and livable—tailored for gathering, cooking, and enjoying life at home.
