Inspired by a visit to the DEANE Inc. showroom, this sophisticated kitchen renovation was in a second home for clients who love to entertain. The goal was to create a modern, design-forward space that would integrate seamlessly into an open floor plan. The result is a refined, eclectic kitchen that balances clean lines with thoughtful material contrasts.
A custom tapered hood with polished stainless steel edging creates a striking focal point, framing the stacked rectangular glass subway tile backsplash and pot filler. This detail is echoed throughout the kitchen, from the stainless steel toe kick to the framed upper wall cabinetry, elevating the design beyond the expected. The cabinetry is a mix of styles and finishes, all in high-gloss Shoreline Gray lacquer with C-channel base cabinetry for a seamless, hardware-free look.
The island features the same C-channel base cabinetry that provides both prep and gathering space, while a dedicated beverage center with retractable doors and open shelving enhances the hosting experience. An induction cooktop, Quartz countertops, paneled appliances, refrigerator drawers, and layered textures add depth and durability.
The primary “show” kitchen is paired with a fully equipped working kitchen behind the scenes for effortless entertaining, including double ovens, a clean-up station with a sink and secondary dishwasher, and a microwave. The upper cabinets are a matte lacquer, while the base cabinets are textured laminate.
Concealed behind a shiplap door, this hidden speakeasy offers a dramatic contrast to the lightness of the main kitchen, a richly layered space defined by high-gloss lacquer cabinetry in a deep anthracite finish. The base cabinetry is framed with inlaid brushed nickel detailing, complemented by satin nickel accents. Architectural grilles in a matching satin nickel finish lend texture to the upper cabinetry, while an antiqued mirror backsplash reflects light. Open shelving is illuminated by integrated LED lighting that casts a warm glow. A 24-inch wine unit, ice maker, and Quartz countertops ensure the space is as practical as it is beautiful. Intimate, this speakeasy is a striking extension of the home, with a touch of surprise.
