This stunning New Canaan renovation is the perfect example of the power of transformation. The client’s primary focus was to open the floor plan up between the kitchen and family room.
The wall was removed separating these two rooms and architectural columns were added to visually distinguish one room from the other. This also achieved another objective which was to bring more natural light into the kitchen. The white cabinetry perimeter of the kitchen serves to both brighten the kitchen as well as serve as a striking counterpoint to the large walnut island. The custom cabinets have walnut interiors and white exterior paint to add to the airy feeling. The food prep area is adjacent to the island sink so the owner can enjoy her company sitting at the island, table, or in the family room. The countertops and full backsplash are Calacatta Blanco quartzite with the custom stainless steel hood serving as the focal point to the room.
